Unfortunately SearchMe search engine has been taken down. For me they were the best example of effective visual multimedia search engine. Seem like it’s still expensive to maintain multimedia search. Here is a list of multimedia features they provided: http://searchlens.org/web_search_engines/?n=Searchme

Hi. You should also check out SpaceTime3D at http://www.spacetime.com. SpaceTime is the originator of Visual Search on the web and lets you search Google, Wikipedia and Flickr images in an amazing Visual Interface.

Well that was definitely worth exploring. I was just reading some search engine patents yesterday and I'm sure they're trying to allow people to get a snapshop of a search result before going to the page - and that's exactly what you do and it's a great tool. I just wish my computer was faster (I have an old one and I'm on satellite so everything loads slow.) But I have to say I'm going to bookmark it cause it's very useful! I could tell right away if it was something I wanted to click on because of the visual. Definitely worth a visit.

Good stuff. Statistics give the facts to be able to back up intuition and hunches. I work all day with people making changes and not until they see the actual numbers and facts do they really start to shift their thinking process. Data 360 is great.

The data quoted come from TIMSS (Third International Mathematics and Science Study) 1995. In 1999, TIMSS-R was conducted at grade 8 only. In 2003, the T was changed to Trends, as the study will be conducted every four years. TIMSS2007 data will be released December 2008.

TIMSS is more than a horserace; there are far richer data from the studies than just the rankings. Because the number and composition of countries have changed from year to year, it is not valid to look only at ranking.

For all the reports, go to www.timss.org

Best regards,

Patsy Wang-Iverson
