US Gasoline Deliveries at Historic Lows

US total retail gas deliveries were at 30,934 thousand gallons per day, a decline of 1081 gallons from October and a deline of 27.8% from November of last year. This is the lowest value since data started being tracked in January 1983. Since gas stations have very little storage space, this is likely a fairly accurate representation of the local retail demand for gasoline in the US. In other words, gas demand dropped precipitously in October and stayed down in November. If deliveries are still this low in December it will look more like a trend than an outlier. However, deliveries have been in decline for a number of years.
