The number of hours required to purchase many electronic devices has dropped dramatically since 1958. At that year’s average wage it would take 6.5 hours to purchase a toaster compared to the 1.4 hours required today. In addition, a television would take 13 hours today compared to 136.3 hours in 1958. Interestingly, the nominal price is nearly identical. It seems the present is a great time to purchase electronics.
